Neck Exercises
Cervical disc hernia comes first when we mention the
diseases about which complaints are received the most. Cervical disc hernia is not
a nightmare anymore thanks to the accurate diagnoses put by specialist physicians,
patient training and an appropriate treatment.
However, misdirection, therapies and treatments conducted unconsciously
can cause the patient serious and irreversible damages.
Hernia can form up in some conditions on the discs between cervical
vertebras. Motionless living, overloading the muscles, sports done unconsciously,
driving cars for long time, use of beds, stools and tables that is not suitable
for your body lay the grounds for hernia.
People who work with their head inclining to the front, secretaries,
teachers, people who use computers and telephones for long time, people who are
dealing with things such as housework, sewing, embroidery , cleaning,
curtaining and wiping the windows are
under risk.
The
pain in the case of cervical disc hernia may concentrate not only on the neck
but also on scapula or chest area. With nerve tissue contraction severe and
burning pain, numbness, tingling that spreads to the arm and hands can be
observed whereas muscle weakness can be observed in cases of advanced
cases. Heavy neck movements can increase
in number with coughing and sneezing. Without
a doubt, all pains in the neck and shoulder area which spread to arms and all
relevant disorders are not cervical disc hernia. The patient who still has complaints regarding
this issue should consult the specialist.
Because the examination finding are very important for both diagnosing
the diseases and the direction of the treatment. Some arrangements that the people who has
this disorder should do in their daily lives:
Give breaks from your works frequently. Give short
breaks when you are sitting at a desk or in a car and stand up, make short
walking and stretching exercises.
Adjust your working chair and computer.
Since especially the headers in football during
young people's activities can cause cervical disc hernia, it should be planned
with a physician about which sports intended for strengthening muscles should
be done and which should not.
do not sleep with many pillows or a thick one,
do not put your head on the arm of the
couch while watching TV and fall asleep like that.
Do not speak after sticking receiver of the
phone and speak like this.
Make exercises of stretching and strengthening.
Walk and swim for spine health.
Even if
your pains are completely healed do not avoid making your exercises every day.
Cervical
disc hernia and the other causes of neck pain are the disorders for which complaints
are reduced when they are not neglected and patients act early for the treatment.
It will be suitable for the people with neck
pain to consult to a physical therapy specialist without wasting any time and
act according to the specialist's advices.
In order
to get rid of neck pain, you should apply the exercise programs to be given to
you by your doctor and physiotherapist by taking into consideration their time
and number of repetitions. This will minimize the problems that you will have
in the future and it will increase your adaption to the treatment. Stop the program in the cases of possible
pain and other disorders that may occur during exercise or consult your physician. Carrying on the exercise with these
conditions is harmful.
Do not hold your breath when making exercises
and take a deep breath while starting the exercise and keep breathing in a regular
manner. Generally, taking a warm shower before starting the exercises, wearing comfortable
clothes, choosing appropriate working grounds and hours
Waist Exercises
There are such health
problems that may bear unwanted results and reduce our living quality when you
do not take a precaution. Lumbar pain is one of them. It is pleasing that it is up to us to get rid
of this problem with some points that we will take into consideration in our daily
lives and some regular and conscious exercises. It doesn’t matter women or men,
all adults experience lumbar pain at an important level during some period of
their lives. Particularly being people
who are doing desk jobs, everyone complains about lumbar pain from young people
to housewives, from teachers to sportsmen.
Many factors such as remaining at the same position for long time, a motionless
lifestyle, lifting heavy weights by forcing the waist, making exercises that need
excess effort, stress and smoking cause lumbar pain.
Thee pains are
generally eliminated by treatment whereas sometimes they may become chronic and disturb a person. Taking precautions is
extremely important for this problem to not to recur. Here are some suggestions
for you to get rid of your lumbar pain.
Try to keep your waist and neck straight and smooth
during your daily life
Break
your knees when you are picking up something form the ground, do not bend down
from the waist. Lift the weight with your legs not with your waist.
Separate the heavy tings into two parts and
move them with your both hands.
Pay attention to have your waist in straight
position not in an inclined one while you are carrying weights.
Do not stay in the same position for long
time.
Try to keep your ideal weight.
Do not try to reach out a thing while picking
it , go near it and take it. While lifting something from the ground, first
bring it closer to your body and then lift it.
Keep a thing closer to your body when you are
carrying it. The closer that thing is to your body the lesser will be the weight
on your waist.
Use a waist support while sitting.
Do not
keep your legs tense while laying down or standing up. Try to pull your knees
lightly to your tummy while lying down.
The bed you use is very important in terms of
protecting yourself from lumbar
pain. The bed should
be hard in a way to not make your body sink inside it and soft in a way to
support your lumbar pit. Prefer the beds
that can flex while buying a bed.
Do not sit on very high or low stools and
chairs. The feet should stand on the ground when sitting and the knee and hip
should be 90-100 degrees bent.
Try to make regular exercises every day. It will be more appropriate for your physician
to determine the exercises
that you will do according to the cause of
your disorder• Do not bend to the front while wearing shoes, wear them while
sitting.
Avoid shoes with high heels (they enlarge the
lumbar pit).
The hose and pipe of your vacuum cleaner should
be as long as possible and you should avoid bending forwards while doing
vacuuming.
Rest
sometimes while working, flex your body.
Try to
stay away from smoking and a
stressed life as much as it is possible.
It should be appropriate
for people with lumbar pain to consult a physical therapy specialist without
wasting time and act in accordance with his advices. In order to get rid of
lumbar pain, you should apply the exercise programs that your physician and physiotherapist
will give you by taking into consideration their time and number of repetitions.
This will minimize the problems that you will have in the future and it will
increase your adaptation to the treatment.
Stop the program in the cases of possible pain and other disorders that
may occur during exercise or consult your physician. Carrying on the exercise with these
conditions is harmful.
Do not hold your
breath when making exercises and take a deep breath while starting the exercise
and keep breathing in a regular manner. Generally, taking a warm shower before
starting the exercises, wearing comfortable clothes, choosing appropriate
working grounds and hours would help.

Knee and Feet Exercises

Osteoarthritis or calcification
is accepted as the most common joint diseases observed as the major cause of
knee pain. Calcification, which develops with the affection of joint cartilage
during natural aging process, causes pain and movement difficulty on the
joints. Calcification, which is frequently
observed after the age of 40, is mostly observed on joints working under a load
such as knees, ankles, hip joint and waist whereas it can also be observed with
joints on elbows, wrists, hand joints or even jaw joints.
People with such complaints should avoid excess
and sudden movements, especially moves such as going up and down the stairs and
crouching which puts a load on the knee.
Since the
load put on the joints are excess in cases of obesity patients, they should not
be pushed more with exercises. Patients need to be trained to not make wrong movements
and use their joints in the right way.
Since shoes with high heels increase the load
put on the joint it is harmful for the patients with calcification to wear
shoes with high heels. Prefer to wear sport shoes with flexible tread or
similar orthopedic shoes.
Walk on smooth roads and by resting
Do not carry heavy weight and carry the weight
by holding it with your both hands, equally on both sides
Do not
sit on a very high or love chair. The feet should stand on the ground while
sitting and the knee and hip should be 90-100 degrees bent. Do not put one leg
over another.
Try to make aerobic exercises such as walking
and swimming.
If you
have a weight problem consult to your doctor
and make a plan together to return
to your healthy weight. Physical therapy and exercises are the methods which
are most useful after drugs in treating joint calcification.
The aim here is to increase joint flushing with local or general heat,
to feed the tissues, to cover the dysfunctions and to make it possible for the muscle
controlling the joint movement to get strengthened. It also makes it possible
to decrease or eliminate the pain factor without harming the body. The exercise
is very important in terms of treatment. Good movement and joint stability is
needed. This can be possible by determining
the values of muscle powers and joint movements of people and applying appropriate
and sufficient exercise programs for their potentials.
It will be appropriate for the people
who have knee, hip and feet pain to consult to a physical therapy specialist
and act in according to his advices.
In order to get rid of these pains, you should apply the exercise
programs that your physician and physiotherapist will give you by taking into
consideration their time and number of repetitions. This will minimize the
problems that you will have in the future and it will increase your adaptation
with the treatment. Stop the program in
the cases of possible pain and other disorders that may occur during exercise
or consult your physician. Carrying on
the exercise with these conditions is harmful.
Do not hold your breath when making exercises and take a deep breath
while starting the exercise and keep breathing in a regular manner. Generally,
taking a warm shower before starting the exercises, wearing comfortable
clothes, choosing appropriate working grounds
and hours
